Flood Protection
Help Protect Your Home From Water Damage
Scott Sears Plumbing installs the Moen Flo Smart Water Shutoff — a whole-home water monitoring system that can detect unusual water use and automatically shut off the supply to help reduce water damage.
What Is the Moen Flo?
The Moen Flo Smart Water Shutoff is a device installed directly on your home's main water supply line. It monitors water flowing through your pipes around the clock. When it detects unusual water flow — such as a potential leak or burst pipe — it can send an alert to your phone and automatically shut off the water supply. It is not a guarantee against all water damage, but it gives you an early warning and a way to respond quickly, even when you're away from home.
Control Everything From Your Phone
The free Moen Smart Water app gives you a real-time dashboard of your entire home's water system — right from your iPhone or Android. Check water usage, view leak alerts, run a manual health check, or shut off your water from anywhere in the world with a single tap.
- Live water usage graphs by day, week, and month
- Instant push notifications for unusual water activity
- One-tap manual shutoff from anywhere
- Vacation Mode for tightened monitoring while away
- Daily Health Check results and history
- Compatible with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit — see Moen website for current integration list
How the Moen Flo Works
Installed on Your Main Line
Scott installs the Flo device directly on your home's main water supply line — typically near the water meter or where the line enters the house. Installation time depends on existing plumbing and site conditions.
Continuous Monitoring
The device monitors water pressure, flow rate, and temperature around the clock. It runs a daily Health Check that pressurizes your system to help identify potential hidden leaks.
Smart Leak Detection
Moen's FloSense technology learns your household's typical water usage patterns. When something unusual is detected — such as a running toilet, unexpected flow, or a potential burst pipe — it flags the anomaly.
Instant Alerts
You receive a push notification on your smartphone when a potential problem is detected. The free Moen Smart Water app shows you what's happening so you can decide how to respond.
Automatic Shutoff
If a critical flow event is detected, the Flo can automatically shut off your main water supply. You can also shut it off manually from anywhere using the app.
Benefits of Installing Moen Flo
Whole-Home Water Monitoring
Monitors water use throughout your home continuously — helping catch unusual flow that could indicate a leak behind walls, under slabs, or in crawl spaces.
Automatic Water Shutoff
When unusual flow is detected, the Flo can shut off your main water line automatically — even if you're asleep, at work, or on vacation.
Daily Health Check
Every day, the Flo runs a pressurized test of your plumbing system to help detect potential micro-leaks that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Real-Time App Control
Monitor your water usage, view alerts, and control your shutoff valve from anywhere using the free Moen Smart Water app on iOS or Android.
Water Usage Insights
See how much water your home uses each day, week, and month. Identify running toilets and dripping fixtures that may be inflating your water bill.
Freeze Alerts
The Flo monitors pipe temperature and can alert you when conditions may be right for pipes to freeze — giving you time to act before a problem develops.
Potential Insurance Discount
Some insurance providers may offer a discount for an eligible automatic water shutoff system. Check with your agent for eligibility and requirements.
Vacation Mode
Enable Vacation Mode in the app and the Flo tightens its monitoring thresholds while you're away.
Smart Home Compatible
Works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. Check the Moen website for the current list of supported integrations.
